CIVITAS joins with outraged Americans and right-minded people throughout the world in condemning the lawless invasion of Ukraine and the slaughter of its innocent citizens. This is an act of naked aggression and extraordinary brutality that must not be ignored.

CIVITAS feels a unique responsibility to speak out in support of Ukraine. For many years we have enjoyed an especially cordial and supportive relationship with the Ukrainian Institute of America where many of you have frequently joined us for our CIVITAS benefits. Having worked closely with the dedicated staff of the Ukrainian Institute makes it particularly painful for us to watch as their beloved homeland and families are destroyed. CIVITAS also extends our unwavering support to our fellow New Yorkers who make up the largest Ukrainian community outside their native land and we earnestly hope for the safety of their loved ones.

We applaud the heroic relief efforts of Ukraine's neighboring countries and know that all our fellow civic organizations join us in supporting Ukraine's valiant struggle to maintain its independence in the face of this barbaric destruction.
